PRISONER-OF-WAR CAMPS

In the period of war the powerful railway trans-shippment hub was built in Pyskowice. The stable inflow of labour force was needed. Therefore the labour camps started to be organised in the town. Even people from different countries were placed here, for example: the Canadians, the British, the Scots, the French. Soviet soldiers, the Jews and the Polish people also worked here. The camps were located near today's Brzozowa Street and Czechowicka Street and also on the premises of the present football stadium Czarni Pyskowice.

The following materials come from Roland Skubała's private collection.

Above there are the name tags belonging to prisoner-of-wars from the camp in Lamsdorfie (Łambinowice). In Pyskowicach there were two branches of that labour camp.
